A lofter with an early Gourlay moon and star cleekmark on the reverse of the head above "Special" in script. There is a further faint stamping of "C Brand Carnoustie" in an oval and the remains of a stamping for "Warranted Hand Forged".

The face has an enclosed, quite faint diamond pattern probably added a few years after the club was made as it was most likely originally smooth-faced.

A good straight hickory shaft carries a replacement tan grip.
