Willie Park long-nose playclub
Maker:
Willie Park Snr
, Musselburgh Date: 1880
A dark-stained beech playclub (driver) with 5.5" head clearly stamped "Wm Park" on the crown. The face has a leather insert to protect the club from damage from hard gutta balls (swiping featheries was an expensive luxury). The ramshorn slip is secured by three hickory dowels.
The good straight hickory shaft has something written in ink, probably the original owner's name but this is now too faint to make out. The old sheepskin grip is possibly original and in very good condition.
Price $3350.00 Reference: D324
