Forgan "Crown" ladies' cleek
Maker: Robert Forgan and Son , St Andrews
Date: 1903

A dainty ladies’ cleek (38½ cm) from the reign of King Edward VII, the crown on the club showing Forgan’s status as clubmaker to the King.

The face is smooth, so from early in the first decade of the 20th century. The reverse is stamped “R Forgan and Son St Andrews” in oval form around the aforementioned crown, the crown rather worn away, and also in oval form “Warranted Hand Forged”. There is an “L” at the toe signifying a ladies’ club.

The original hickory shaft is dead straight and is stamped “R Forgan St Andrews”. The sheepskin grip is in excellent condition and probably also original.

A club in excellent condition save some wear and discolouration to the head and would serve a lady hickory player well on the course.

Price $95.00
