Antique Golf Clubs from Scotland
Catalogue
Maxwell mid-iron
Maker: St Andrew Golf Company , Glasgow / Dunfermline
Date: 1926

Another experiment with rustless metal from this technically innovative company, this time Challenger metal and “Challenger Rustless” (it wasn’t) is stamped either side of their post 1925 sun cleekmark on the reverse of the head. It is a Maxwell model, this variant having ten holes punched in the hosel and the enlarged flange at the base of the head. The head is also stamped “Warranted Made in Scotland”, “Maxwell Model Mid Iron” and “The St Andrew Golf Co Ltd” with the St Andrew in an art deco style. The face has an enclosed hyphen pattern.

The golden hickory shaft is straight and in good straight condition. It carries the original all-weather grip which is playable but you would probably wish to change it if heading for the course.

Price $125.00
