Semi-long-nose brassie
Maker:
J & W Craigie
, Montrose Date: 1894
A most attractive semi-longnose (transitional) brassie from a respected Montrose clubmaker with head fashioned from a fine piece of golden beech. The crown is clearly stamped "Craigie" in block capitals. The clubhead is protected by a brass soleplate fastened by six screws and by a horn slip, all in excellent original condition.
The hickory shaft is straight and original and stamped "Craigie Selected" around the firm's star mark, just below the sheepskin grip which is almost certainly original.
A very fine collectors' club in outstanding original condition.
