"H L" scareneck brassie
Maker: Unknown , Unknown
Date: 1900

An elegant turn of the 20th century scareneck brassie with thin scare and good, small persimmon head. The crown is stamped "H L Special". "H L" may refer to a maker, High Logan perhaps, but, as the letters are not quite aligned with each other, they more likely are the original owner's initials. The head is also stamped "Special". The sole is covered by a brass soleplate fastened by six screws. The light lead backweight is original and nicely fitted. In addition to the soleplate, the club is protected by a red fibre slip.

An unusually thin scare joins the head to a good straight hickory shaft and is covered by the original whipping. The grip too looks original and has a small gap just above the shaft whipping.
