Gibson Star Maxwell jigger
Maker:
William Gibson
, Kinghorn Date: 1912
A very light and shallow-faced jigger with 4" hosel from Gibson of Kinghorn in their Star Maxwell range. It has a Maxwell hosel (10 holes punched in it) and a faded hand punched face. Also characteristic of this brand is the wide sole flange. "Star Maxwell" is faintly stamped on the reverse of the head but only the outside oval is left where once Gibson's name or the pro for whom the club was made would be stamped. Good straight shaft (it may have been reshafted) and brown suede grip. Playable (although jiggers are not the easiest clubs to master) or an eye-catching display piece.
