Alexander Grant
North Berwick
Alexander Lawrence Grant was a younger brother by nearly 15 years (b 30 April 1897) of Davy “Sonny” Grant and so a son of Davy Grant Snr who had 9 children by the time of the 1911 census. He was a professional in that he was a 'licensed caddy' on the North Berwick links allowing him to give paid golf lessons and enter competitions which offered prize money.

He enlisted in the Royal Scots but was later transferred as a private to the 10/11th Battallion of the Highland Light Infantry. He was killed in action 9.4.1918 and is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial.
