John Higgins
Walsall
Born in Bridge of Weir, 1891, John Higgins was an assistant at Ranfurly. He went south to Walsall where he was appointed professional in 1912. He did well in competitions around the English Midlands and had a reputation as a powerful driver.

Enlisting in the King's Own Scottish Borderers, he married at the same time. Promoted to L/Cpl he transferred to the 8th Battalion of the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. John was killed in action in Italy on 28th October 1918, and he is buried in Tezze British Cemetery.
