Donald Ross
Dornoch/Pinehurst
Donald Ross Because of his huge legacy as a golf course architect, it is easy to forget that Donald J Ross was also an accomplished clubmaker serving his apprenticeship under Old Tom
Morris in St Andrews. He returned to his native Dornoch as professional in 1893 before emigrating to the United States in 1899. He split his time in the US between Oakley in Boston and Pinehurst where he designed the 2, 3 and 4 courses. Clubs exist from all three locations. (See the History article on Dornoch for more information).
