Antique Golf Clubs from Scotland

A Dunlop
Glasgow
The Shoor-Flite range of clubs always seem to have “A Dunlop” stamped on them. I had it in my head that they were made in Troon though I now have no idea how I came upon that piece of wisdom. I wrote it down on this site and now I see the ‘information’ passed on in various other places while I now question whether A Dunlop existed at all.

Shoor Flite golf balls were made for a Glagow chain of tobacconists , A Harris Ltd and I presume the clubs were sold through them also. Perhaps a clubmaker’s name made the clubs easier to sell. So, take the business owner’s initial, “A” for Abraham, and the business’s address, 88 Dunlop Street, and there’s an identity!
