Clubmakers David Auchterlonie Carlsbad/Potchefstroom David Auchterlonie was a ‘professional’, really, instructor for a season (although that was then enough to be identified a professional for competition purposes) as a scratch player from the St Andrews club, at Carlsbad) in 1913. A talented player in the St Andrews club, he was an elder brother of Joseph amd Harry, and the son of Joseph snr, brother of David and Willie and Tom. He did follow up this position with a more conventional professional appointment, going to the Potchefstroom club in South Africa at the end of 1913. Later he went into teaching and was headmaster of a school in Glasgow. Search the catalogue for clubs by this maker | |
