Clubmakers Dan Bryson Minchinhampton/London Born in Edinburgh about 1860 (I do not have a birth record, this is based on later census information) , he competed in the Open Championship at Sandwich in 1899 with the affiliation of Chislehurst where he hadf been professional since 1894 He was professional to the Minchinhampton club between 1900 and 1902 at which point he took up the professional's post at Stoanmore and was elected to the committee of the PGA (of which he had been a founder member) the following year. All newspaper reports refer to him as "Dan" but it is not clear where this comes from. He is recorded in the 1901 census as boarding, aged 42, a golf professional, at the Old Lodge Hotel in Minchinhampton, but with the name Andrew K M H Bryson. He left Stanmore in 1908 and I have found no record of him being a professional elsewhere although a newspaper report of 1913 does mention a Dan Bryson as a greenkeeper at Royal Portrush (he certainly was not the professional there).
