Willie Park Driving Iron
Maker:
William Park and Son
, Musselburgh Date: 1897
An interesting design for a driving iron from Willie Park with a very short hosel (3") and a very small head (3" across and 1.75" at its widest point) making it a challenging club to play with.
Smooth-faced, the back of the head is stamped "Wm Park" with (more faintly" "Musselburgh" below, both in caps. The hickory shaft is playably straight and carries a polished calfskin grip, probably a replacement in the fiirst decade of the club's life.
