Joe Anderson opened his Perth sports shop in 1899 and this looks like it may have been one of the first clubs he produced there. A smooth-face mashie, it is stamped on the reverse "Warranted Hand Forged" and has "Joe Anderson Maker Perth" within a small double oval.

The hickory shaft is straight and in good shape and is also stamped, "Anderson Perth". The grip was once smooth black calf leather but the nap has worn off over the years and it now looks more like a piece of sheepskin. It, and the listing below, are almost certainly original.

An attractive display club which would also serve well on the course in the pre-1905 category.
