Rodwell niblick
Maker:
Charles Rodwell
, London Date: 1923
A fairly large-headed niblick with dot-diamond face and one of the most attractive ring hickory shafts you will see. The quality of shaft is unsurprising: Charles Rodwell travelled to the US in 1908 in order to select timber himself and it was a major selling feature of his business.
The reverse of the club is marked "Niblick" with "Charles Rodwell" in script within an oval topped with "Blackheath Sports Co" in a scroll. The retail outlets of the Blackheath company were bought by Rodwell in 1912.
The shaft is stamped "P A Percival Highcliffe Castle GC" (Percival was pro here from 1919 until the Second World War) and has an old sheepskin grip.
Price $180.00 Reference: NIB213
