Clubmakers Tom Simpson Timperley/Lytham/Hesketh Born in Scarborough in 1878, Thomas William Simpson served his apprenticeship under the great Harry Vardon.before spending three years at Wakefield, until 1902. He then crossed the Pennines to take up the professional’s post at Timperley. In 1905 he took over from George Lowe at Lytham St Annes. When Peter McEwan. left Hesketh for Huddersfield in 1919, Simpson was appointed his successor and remained in post until 1930. His younger brother, Harry was also a professional.
