Sabbath Clubs
(Source: © 1999, Douglas MacKenzie)

Very collectable items whether you choose to believe the story about them or not. At three feet in length, they look like walking sticks but could be reversed and used as a mini golf club. The reason for this was that the church would not allow golf courses to be open on a Sunday. The keen golfer, therefore, could walk over a quiet part of the course striking a ball with this walking stick. Lots of reproductions of these clubs can be seen so be careful with what you are buying !
