J S Forrester
Cruden Bay/Brussels etc
James Summers Forrester was born in Glasgow in 1908 and his first professional assignment was at the nearby Balmore club in 1926. From here he won the Glasgow championship in 1929 and 1930.

He was appointed professional at Cruden Bay when James Mackie left for Hunstanton in 1932

Winner of the Northern Open in 1934 and the Scottish Professional Championship in 1936, he qualified for and played in the Open Chapionships of 1934, 1935 and 1937. He represented Scotland against Ireland and against England each year between 1932 and 1936, captaining the side against Ireland in 1935.

In 1937 he replaced Henry Cotton as professional to the Waterloo club in Belgium. Sadly, this was brief. He died in hospital in Brussels in June the following year after an operation.
