Juvenile driver
Maker:
Robert Forgan and Son
, St Andrews Date: 1914
This is a most attractive juvenile driver with a beautiful golden persimmon head, very well marked, "R Forgan & Son St Andrews", in oval form, with "R Forgan", in signature, in the centre.
As it is a juvenile club, the head is proportionately smaller as is the shaft with a length of 30 inches. The shaft is through hoselled i.e. passing through the heas and made flush to the sole. The head is protected by a black fibre slip secured by three hickory dowels. For the size of the head, the lead backweight is quite heffy.
The suede grip is a replacement. A very nice club to mark a child's birth (more fun than those boring apostle spoons) though, in fairness, the women who have agreed with me on this have been far and few between.
