Lundin Links scareneck brassie
Maker:
D M Patrick
, Wimbledon/Lundin Links Date: 1896
Though it looks earlier, I assume, as greenkeeper at Wimbledon, David Patrick was not marking clubs with his name so this is presumably one of the first clubs he made on his return to Scotland in 1896.
The club has a very fine beechwood head, clearly stamped "D M Patrick" with a horn slip above a brass soleplate which tapers at the back and extends beyond the back of the head. The head is joined to the shaft by a long slender scare.
A straight hickory shaft carries what is probably the original stout leather grip above the original blue woollen listing.
A fine collectors' club from an excellent clubmaker whose surviving output from this period is quite limited.
