Transitional beech brassie
Maker: Charles Brand , Carnoustie
Date: 1893

A very fine, all original, transitional brassie from an excellent Carnoustie maker seemingly missing from the radar of many collectors.

A fine banded beech head has a gutta insert on the face, probably part of the design to protect the club from the hard gutta ball. An insert to the insert has been added, probably because of wear by said ball, probably during the first few years of the club's life i.e. at the end of the 19th century.

The crown is clearly stamped "C Brand".

The club has the traditional brass soleplate secured by six screws.

A perfectly straight hickory shaft in excellent condition carries what is probably the original sheepskin grip An excellent collector's club.

Price $2250.00
