Marked "Special Iron" on the reverse of the head this has the length and loft of a driving iron albeit, at 4", with a shorter hosel than would be usual on such a club. It is a James Braid model, it has his signature on the head, but was sold through the great man's own shop too,, "J Braid Walton Heath Nr Epsom" also stamped within an oval on the head. In addition, it is stamped "Warranted Hand Forged".

The face has a hand-marked enclosed diamond pattern.

What is probably the original polished black calfskin grip sits atop a straight hickory shaft.

Lots of history but just as suited to hickory play.
