Auchterlonie ladies' scareneck driver
Maker: D & W Auchterlonie , St Andrews/North Berwick
Date: 1908

A ladies' scareneck driver, so a slightly shorter and thinner shaft, from the famous St Andrews workshop of David and Willie Auchterlonie.

The crown is marked "Auchterlonie D&W St Andrews Scotland", all picked out in gold paint in an oval, above "Hand Made". There is a horn slip, secured by three hickory dowels which has some wear at the back, as it should. Its function is to protect the clubhead itself from damage when playing from stony lies.

The club has a fine straight hickory shaft, stamped by the makers at the top, and carries what is probably the original sheepskin grip.

As always from Auchterlonie, a fine piece of craftsmanship for display but also eminently playable.

Price $390.00
