Flanged mid-iron for Tom Alexander
Maker: A G Spalding & Bros , London/Edinburgh
Date: 1913

An iron made by Spalding's Scottish factory in Dysart, Fife, (recognisable by the anvil cleek mark) on the reverse of the head for Tom Alexander in Paisley where he appears to have been the professional sometime around WWI. It has a heavy flanged sole similar to the earlier Balingall patent and later incorporated into Spalding's Gold Medal range of clubs. There is a "notch" where the head meets the hosel allowing for a particularly narrow hosel presumably in an attempt to add "feel".

A good hickory shaft carries a polished black calfskin grip, probably a replacement put on in the 1920s.

Price $130.00
