Ladies' smooth-faced mashie
Maker:
J & A Dickson
, Edinburgh Date: 1895
An early smoothface mashie from John and Alexander Dickson's first workshop in Edinburgh, in Braid Road. The reverse of the head has a small, clear stamp of "Braid Road" with only the ends of "Dickson" and "Edinburgh" still visible.
The hickory shaft is light and thin, as is appropriate for a ladies' club, but still straight and playable. It is topped with an old suede grip.
