Ever get down to your underwear of an evening, sit on your bed and play with your mashie? I kid you not, this is how the Munsingwear Corporation set about selling its famous union suits in 1927. "let Munsingwear Cover You with Satisfaction" proclaims the ad.

Obviously it worked because by 1920 Munsingwear was the largest underwear producer in the US and Minneapolis's largest employer of women. Had it not been for milling, Minneapolis would have been called the underwear capital of the world so, thank goodness for the flour.

This ca 10 x 6.5" ad was cut from National Geographic in 1927. When the subject of your golf memorabilia cluttering up the house next arises, you might mention that the Minneapolis Historical Society acquired most of Munsingwear's antique stock when the company left Minnesota in the late 1970s and that these ancient knickers are currently filling most of a 40,000 square foot temperature-and UV-controlled vault and you were just thinking that this might make a new collecting interest.
