Anderson Niblick for Hugh Gordon
Maker:
Hugh M Gordon
, Barrhead/Bretton Woods NH Date: 1912
A pre-WWI medium-headed niblick forged by Anderson of Anstruther (it bears their arrow cleekmark) for Hugh M Gordon at the Fereneze club in Barrhead. Something of a rarity as he was only here for two years before emigrating to the USA. It has an attractive face pattern, alternating lines of two different hyphen patterns enclosed within dotted boxes. In addition to the Anderson arrow, the back of the clubhead has "H Gordon Barrhead Special" in script and "Warranted hand Forged". There is a stamp of Gordon's name on the hickory shaft also. The reddish-brown leather grip is a replacement of indeterminate age.
