Antique Golf Clubs from Scotland

Deep faced St Andrew mashie
Maker: St Andrew Golf Company , Glasgow / Dunfermline
Date: 1926

Unusual, in that "D F Mashie" stamped on the reverse of the head is relatively unusual as a club style. Essentially it is a spade mashie with characteristic oversized head and increased loft. The reverse is also stamped with the club number, "11", the Registered Stag mark of the St Andrew company, "Special" (in script) and "Warranted Hand Forged". It is marked for R C Morgan, Teignmouth. This much travelled professional was at Fereneze, by Glasgow, and then in the north of Scotland, at Brora, before spending a year at the other extreme, the south of England, in 1925-6.

The face has an enclosed line pattern. The hickory shaft is straight and has a smoky, mahogany-like stain to it. It is topped with a brown leather grip, with listing visible below, almost certainly original.

Price $135.00
