Cochrane spoon
Maker:
J P Cochrane
, Edinburgh Date: 1920
A persimmon-headed spoon from a renowned Edinburgh maker. The crown is stamped "Cochranes Ltd Edinburgh" as a stylized logo. Instead of the traditional horn or fibre slip, the head is protected by an embedded aluminium piece which acts as both slip and partial soleplate across the middle of the sole. It is held in place by four simplex screws and stamped "Spoon". The shaft is hickory and straight and carries the original smooth black leather grip, a little faded and torn in places.
