E H Riseborough

E H Riseborough Born Sheringham, 1878, Ernest H Riseborough began his golfing career at the age of 13, serving as caddy to Tom Dunn who was testing the course he had laid out at Sheringham. The following year Riseborough was given the job of assistant to Sheringham's first professional, Gourlay Dunn and continued as assistant to Willie McDonald, He was pro at Chiswick, West London, in 1902 and 1903 and at Royal Norwich from 1903 - 1907. In May of that year he returned to his birthplace where he served a prodigious stint, until 1959, interrupted only by war service as a mechanic with the Royal Naval Air Service in WWI. His service to the Eastern Counties PGA is also noteworthy with 37 years as secretary.
