Clubmakers Fred Ashplant Aberdeen Fred Ashplant served a clubmaking apprenticeship with Archie Simpson at Royal Aberdeen before going to work for Marling and Smith in the town. He played in the big Cruden Bay professional tournament of 1909. His big chance came in 1913 when he was appointed clubmaker and professional to a club in Auckland, New Zealand. Sadly, he took ill on the journey and stopped ar a relative’s house in London where he died a few days later. Search the catalogue for clubs by this maker | |
