Clubmakers James Neilson Ranfurly One of many fine golfers from the Kinghorn Thistle club to join the professional ranks, though originally from Musselburgh, James Neilson took over as professional at Ranfurly Castle in May 1921 from his brother-in-law, A G Tait who was going to take up a professional post in America. Before this, Neilson had been a clubmaker with his uncler Robert in Musselburgh and, thereafter, at Gibson’s in Kinghorn. He remained in post until 1924.
