Clubmakers Jock Hendry Monifieth/St Paul, MN John McLeod “Jock” Hendry was born in Monifieth in 1895 and served a clubmaking apprenticeship in the town with Alec Simpson then worked for several years with the clubmakers J C Smith. He went to America in 1921 to become assistant to another Monifiethian, Willie Kidd at Interlachen. In 1923 to become professional at the Midland Hills Country Club in Minnesota then, on the recommendation of Tom Vardon, taking up the same post at the Town and Country Club in St Paul in the spring of 1925.
