Clubmakers David Houston Leven/Aberdeen Born in Leven in 1897, he served a clubmaking apprenticeship with Alex Patrick. Pro at Lundin Links in 1920 he moved the following year to Royal Aberdeen where he remained until 1933. Announcing his appointment, the Dundee Courier noted, 'A first-class clubmaker, Houston is a fine player and champion of the Leven Thistle Club. He served four years in the army.' He took over at Grantown-on-Spey in 1933 on the death of Andrew Phimister. He remained here through the Second World War before becoming professional at Braid Hills in Edinburgh in 1948.
