Clubmakers Dave Kirkaldy St Andrews/Delaware A son of the great St Andrews player and character, Andra Kirkaldy, Dave was a clubmaker and professional learning his clubmaking as an apprentice with Robert Forgan and Son before enlisting in the RAMC at the beginning of the First World War. He survived service at Gallipoli and Mesopotamia and emigrated to the United States in 1921 becoming professional at Bretton Lake in Delaware and later at Blairmont in Pennslyvania. He returned to the UK in 1935 before moving to Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) to take up a post as golf professional there. He retired due to ill-health in 1940 and died the following year aged 45.
