Clubmakers C I Annan Glasgow/Edinburgh Born in 1856, Charles Ingram Annan, worked as a gunmaker at Charles Ingram, his uncle’s business in Renfield Street in Glasgow, taking over the business after his uncle’s death in 1885. He presented a trophy to the National Rifle Association and set up the Scottish Gun Club, with himself as managing director, to provide a shooting range along the lines of the Hurlingham Club in London. In 1896 he turned his attention to golf and other sports establishing The Sportsman’s Emporium in St Vincent Street, converting it to a joint stock company later that year.
