Clubmakers Alf Rogers Leith (Edinburgh) Leith Links is one of the places which can lay claim to being the birthplace of golf in Scotland but, by the time Alf Rogers was selling clubs here, the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers had moved out of town, first to Musselburgh and, ultimately, to Muirfield. MacDonald’s Edinburgh Directory of 1926-7 shows him as being a golf club and ball-maker at 76 Great Junction Street, Leith, but he must have been in business long before this as I have seen several clubs marked with his name from the middle of the previous decade.
