Clubmakers Goudie & Co Glasgow/Edinburgh The company was started in Glasgow in 1868 by James T Goudie as Blacklock, Goudie & Co as "Waterproofers and India-Rubber Manufacturers" . It grew rapidly as makers and distributors of everything from railway buffers to suitcases and all manner of golf goods. They had shops in Argyle Street and St Enoch Square and a factory, the Kent Works, off Garscube Road, Maryhill. In the 1890s they opened facilities in Edinburgh. In the early 1920s the company was taken over by the Leyland company but continued with its own identity with clubs marked "J T Goudie & Co" although the bear cleekmark used by the firm was employed on other Leyland models.
