J O F Morris
St Andrews
J O F Morris Jimmy was Old Tom Morris's "other" son and, sadly, like brother Tommy, died prematurely, after many illnesses, in 1906, once again survived by his father. His initials "J O F" derived from the good amateur and moving force behind the Open Championship, J O Fairlie, who brought Old Tom to Prestwick as "keeper of the green" and with whom Tom formed a strong friendship. J O F Morris had several top ten finishes in the Open Championship in the 1870s and 1880s and served as the foreman in the Morris clubmaking shop.
