Clubmakers John (Jack) Morris Liverpool The son of George Morris, and nephew of Old Tom, Jack was born in St Andrews in 1847 and moved, as a ten year old to Carnoustie, when his father was appointed as the first professional there. In 1869, George Morris and Robert Chambers laid out the first twelve hole course at Hoylake and Jack was appointed as Hoylake’s first professional at the same time.
