Clubmakers Charles Rodwell London Best known for the Rodwell putter, an aluminium headed club with a disk on top with aiming notch patented in the UK in 1921 and in the US a year later, Charles Herbert Rodwell was a fine clubmaker and astute businessman. Born in 1887 he served a short apprenticeship with the Improved Balls Company before opening his first shop in 1904. He bought out the stock of Cuthbert Butchart's enterprise when it failed in 1907, Hemmings Golf Co a couple of years later and, in 1912, the retail outlets of the Blackheath Sports Company.
