William McEwan
Formby
Another of the Musselburgh McEwans, born in the town on 25 July 1872. After completing his clubmaking training, he was sent south in 1890 to run the shop the company had just opened at the Royal Epping club at Chingford.

The Formy club also had an agreement to sell McEwan clubs and, after the sudden death of his father Peter, William took over from him in 1896.

Here he remained until 1931 when he collapsed and died on the course in May of that year.

Made a version of the Dunn patent one-piece driver.
