B H McRae
Flackwell Heath
B H McRae Bertie Harold McRae was the elder brother of Leonard, and born in Beddington, Surrey on 26 January 1885 to Oliver, a leather dresser, and his wife, Jane née Pitcher, at 1 Golden Terrace.

He served a clubmaking apprenticeship at the Prince’s Club, Mitcham, appearing on the 1901 census, still living at home with parents and siblings, as a clubmaker.

In 1907 he married Mary (Minnie) Mehala Jolly in Wandsworth and their son was baptised in Wimbledon in September so it is possible Bertie was associated with a Lonon club at this time. Sometime after 1909 he became professional at Flackwell Heath and, on the 1911 census, he and Minnie are living there with three year old son, James Oliver. Bertie is shown as golf professional and Leonard is also staying with them and is his assistant and clubmaker at the Flackwell Heath club.

He was still professional at Flackwell Heath in 1938 but, by the end of the war, H B Rhodes had taken his place.

He died im Buckinghamshire in 1971.
