George Harris
Sandwich/Braemar/London
Born in Sandwich in 1874, and an original member of the PGA, George Thomas Harris began his working life in golf as professional to the Leighton Buzzard club in the late 1890s. He moved to Scotland in 1903 and was professional at Braemar. After working at Mar Lodge he became a private professional to the Duke and Duchess of Fife (Princess Louise, the Prrincess Royal) whose hunting lodge that was. That made him professional at the Royal Craggan Golf Club, effectively their private course, where he remained until 1919 when he became professional at Richmond.

His elder brother Harry was also a professional and he emigrated to the USA in 1909.
