Clubmakers Dave McKay Carnoustie/Pittsburgh Dave McKay was the brother of Willie and the first to emigrate to the USA. He spent his entire career in the Pittsburgh area, spending a year at the Allegheny club as assistant to his best friend Fred Brand when he arrived in 1908 then serving in a similar capacity at the Butler Country Club, Highland and thereafter the Pittsburgh Country Club. He became professional at the Field Club in 1915 and remained there until 1953. He won the Open Championship of Western Pennsylvania in 1919 over his home course and played in the US Open of 1915. With Fred Brand, he did much to establish the Tri-State Chapter of the PGA and, after Brand’s death, he was made president. When he retired, the Field Club made him an honorary member and awarded him a monthly pension. Search the catalogue for clubs by this maker | |
