Clubmakers Arthur Hallam Fairhaven Arthur was the brother of Albert Ernest Hallam, both golfers from Bulwell, Nottingham who moved north to the Manchester area to ply their trade. Hallam was professional at the Fairhaven club from around 1911. Jackson’s Register has him there until at least 1938 but I have a record of W A “Wally” McMinn.taking up the Fairhaven professional’s post in 1920 but Hallam certainly appears in tournaments with the Fairhaven affiliation in the mid-1920s. They may have hired McMinn principally as a playing professional with Hallam running the club. The Fairhaven course was revamped in 1913 and Hallam played against Harry and Tom Simpson and George Duncan, then at Hanger Hill in a celebration of the opening of the new course.
