Clubs

Brassies
(Source: © 1999 - 2013, Douglas MacKenzie)

The name of these derives from the brass plate affixed to the sole to protect the club from the rough ground over which golf was played in the 1890s. It is thought that Tom Morris was the first to hit upon this idea. It is a slightly lofted club equivalent to the modern 2-wood.
