Goudie smooth-faced cleek
Maker: Goudie & Co , Glasgow/Edinburgh
Date: 1894

Goudie was a long-established Edinburgh firm but most of the clubs one sees are from around the time of its takeover by Leyland, or after, so this one from the 1890s is quite unusual.

A length of35" and a head size of 4" by 1.25" puts this in the tradition of 1890 cleeks witht the parallel lnes of the head. It has the, probably original sheepskin grip and, although the head stamp is worn away, a very clear shaft stamp of "Goudie & Co".

A good example of 19th century Scottish clubmaking to display or a pre-1905 club for hickory play.

Price $225.00
