A club from Hoylake, home of the 2014 Open Championship, where its maker plied his clubmaking trade at the end of the 19th century and later became the professional. The clubhead is in the elongated form between longnose and the modern wood for which collectors have adopted the term "transitional". The crown is clearly stamped "J Youds". The club is protected by a horn slip and a full brass solepated secured by six screws.
A fine straight hickory shaft is topped off with a soft black leather grip with original black rough cloth listing below.
